Headlining the InstantScouting 2017 Top National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Senior Quarterbacks List is the Dakota State University single-season passing leader Jacob Giles.
Giles completed his stellar 2016 season by leading the Trojans and the North Star conference with 2,571 passing yards, the second most passing yards in a single-season in the DSU Football record book. He threw a DSU single season school-record 28 touchdown passes, breaking the 40-year record of 21 touchdown passes set by Terry Kasperbauer in 1976. Giles also hold the record for most touchdown passes in a single game with 7 versus No. 24-ranked St. Ambrose (Iowa) on Sept. 10 (previous record was 5 touchdown passes set by Kasperbauer in 1976 and Tom Nielsen in 2003), which Giles received the first edition of the 2016 NAIA Football Offensive Player-of-the-Week recognition. Giles also broke the DSU career record of 59 passing touchdowns, with the previous old record set by Justin Thielke with 58 career touchdown passes from 1997-2000.

Ferrer enters his final season having thrown for at least two TDs in every game the last two seasons, is 25-2 and he’s passed for 200 or more yards in 23 of his last 25 games. He also completed 29 TD passes for 20 or more yards in 2016.
QB Jordan Knock, Senior, Grand View University, Gilbert, Iowa, 6’3, 235 lbs
Knock is the 2016 Heart North Division Offensive Player of the Year in addition to his 1st Team All Offense honor.
QB Jacob Giles, Senior, Dakota State University, Madison, South Dakota, 6’2, 210 lbs
He completed 231 passes in 403 attempts in 2016 for a completion rate of 57.3 percent. He averaged 257.1 passing yards for the Trojans, leading the North Star in the passing category. He had tied the DSU school record for most completions in a single-game with 32 completions twice in 2016. Giles also registered four rushing touchdowns for DSU. He was honored as NSAA Football Conference Offensive Player-of-the-Week three times.
QB Alex Bell, Senior, Union College, Daytona Beach, Florida, 6’1, 200 lbs
Playing in only three quarters, Bell had a career day in completing 19-of-23 passes. He threw for a career-high 353 yards and a career-best five touchdowns. The five touchdown passes were one shy of the program record. He had touchdown passes of five, three, three, 77, and 60 yards.
On year, Bell ranks sixth in the NAIA in total offense at 702 yards and 10th in total passing yards with 593. He also has 109 yards rushing on the season. This is Bell’s second weekly award in a row.
