Headlining the InstantScouting 2018 Elite Class: D2 Linebackers Class is Senior Brandon Payer of Colorado State University Pueblo.

Payer earned AFCA All-America First Team … All-America Second Team … D2CCA All-Region First Team … All-RMAC First Team … All-NFFCC First Team … Cliff Harris Award Finalist … Started all 12 games at inside linebacker and finished the season with 110 tackles with 71 solo … Was 2nd in the RMAC in both tackles and solo tackles … Ranks 22nd nationally in solo tackles … The 71 solo tackles is a new modern era program record … Led the RMAC with 14.0 tackles for loss (-50 yards) and added 4.5 sacks to tie for 5th … Forced three fumbles (T-3rd in RMAC, T-58th nationally) with one recovery … Compiled six games with double-digit tackle totals with a season high 14 at West Texas A&M (Sept. 9) … The ThunderWolves defense finished the regular season 10th nationally in both total defense (273.5 yards per game) and scoring defense (14.3 ppg) and 11th in turnovers gained (27) … Academic All-District and Academic All-RMAC First Team.

Earned Football Gazette 3rd Team All Region as he compiled 10.5 tackles for loss including 5.5 sacks on Shippensburg.

DE/LB Jarell Bright, Senior, Winston-Salem State, Charlotte, NC, 6’2″ 235

Earned All-CIAA First Team honors tied for second on team with 46 tackles and 6.5 tackles for Winston-Salem State University.

LB Joe Blue, Senior, Newbury, Dillon, SC, 5’10 225

Insider linebacker started all 11 games and led Newbury with 83 tackles earning 1st Team All-ECAC.

LB Noor Shongolo, Senior, CSU-Pueblo, Commerce City, CO, 6’1″ 225

OLB earned All-RMAC 1st Team honors with 58 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks at CSU-Pueblo.

Colorado Mesa LB had 5.5 tackles for loss earning All-RMAC 1st Team honors.

Northwest Missouri State LB led team with a total of 83 tackles earning First Team All-MIAA honors.

Had 97 tackles including 5 tackles for loss on West Liberty earning 1st Team All-MEC honors.

LB Jalen Nelson, Senior, Charleston, Springfield, OH, 6’1″ 230

1st Team All-MEC selection had 62 total tackles including 21 tackles for loss on the University of Charleston.

LB Anthony Pittman, Senior, Wayne State, Birnmingham, MI, 6’3″ 228

Team captain was voted All-GLIAC First Team after recording 63 tackles including 12.5 tackles for loss.

LB Sam Blankenhip, Senior, Harding, Tulsa, OK, 6’2″ 205

Earned numerous accolades including AP 2nd Team All-American after posting 130 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, and 3 interception for Harding University.

Led Arkansas Tech’s defense with 109 tackles and 4.5 sacks earning 1st Team All-GAC honors.

LB Derrick Tate, Senior, Bowie State, Baltimore, MD, 6’3″ 210

All-CIAA First Team selection had 56 total tackles including 17.5 tackles for loss for Bowie State.
